Thread: Is rooting illegal?

If we root our phones, can we be prosecuted by the phone companies? I am worried because I hear if you download music without paying they can charge you.

Rooting the phone in and of itself is not illegal. What you decide to do with the rooted phone might be, or might violate the terms and conditions of your contract, ie. wireless tethering.
