    Android device as a hotspot.

I was reading a review of the Motorola Droid X and there was mention of someone being able to use it as a mobile hot spot. What accessories would someone need to do this?

You don't need any accessories in order to set up a hot spot. You just need the hot spot app, I believe. It was already on my phone when I bought it, and I have Verizon.

Just root your phone and side load "wireless tether". We have it here in the forum or you can google it. With that it also doesn't require a data plan with tethering...so....it's free....

Unfortunately most hot spot apps don't work on the DROIDX anymore. So you can root, but you'll have to load a custom ROM.

Or if you don't want to root, you can call Verizon and have them add their service. It costs $20/m for 2GB.

Thats what I did on my hero - I rooted it and downloaded wireless tether and away i went - worked good at work. Had and Ipad2, two iphones and a blackberry tethered plus my laptop. It was slow as hell on a weak 3G signal, but was better than nothing inside our control center at work! Now I have my photon and i'm not sure I want to root it just yet.
